We support a Polish missionary, Father Darek, who has been in Cameroon for over 30 years and knows very well whom and how to help. In addition to his pastoral work, he has been running the Heart Adoption initiative since 1999. Thanks to his commitment, he has already sent 844 children from poor families to school. The initiative has been ongoing for 25 years.

Since 2000, Father Darek has also been running orphanages—first in Bertoua in the eastern part of the country now also in the capital, Yaoundé, and by the ocean in Kribi. Initially, he took care of several orphaned children whose parents died of AIDS. Over time, other orphans, half-orphans, and children from polygamous families who had no means of living joined them.

The children covered by adoption, who have completed school thanks to this initiative, along with those raised in the orphanage, number in the thousands. Some of them hold high positions in the government, and a few have graduated from universities in Poland.

The OPEN WINGS Foundation has not only significantly expanded the orphanage in Yaoundé but has also built a center from scratch in Kribi by the ocean. They continuously support the Heart Adoption initiative and help with the maintenance and education of children in the local orphanages.
